Nicole adheres to the French psychologists code of conduct (9 September 2021; code of conduct). As such, all information disclosed within sessions remains strictly confidential. Your right to confidentiality is protected by law (Code pénal, Article 226-13) although I can be ordered to breech confidentiality by the courts. The specifics of maintaining confidentiality are usually discussed in the initial session.
A further note on confidentiality. I regularly engage in supervision with other mental health professionals, which involves discussing issues that arise in my work with clients. Any disclosure of client information is non-identifiable and my peers, as health professionals are equally held accountable to maintain confidentiality.
At the request of the client, information can be released to relevant professionals. This is always discussed in advance and the client must sign (or electronically approve) a written release of information document specific to the situation.
